Chifundo Guest House

In the ‘backyard’ of the hospital on a 1-minute walking distance, this newly constructed accommodation has 4 rooms with private bathroom with toilet and shower. Our Chifundu (means: ‘Compassion’) Palliative Care project established this lodge in 2016 to be able to host all students participating in trainings in palliative care. At this moment, mostly visiting students stay in this house as this Hospital Guesthouse offers the lowest price in Nkhoma. Chifundo House has a nice common living room with a kitchen with refrigerator, cooker, gas cooker for power-cuts and a microwave. The rooms are cleaned 3 times a week and the cleaning lady is happy to do your laundry for the price of $2.50 per bundle.

M’bawa Lodge

In walking distance from the rear hospital entrance, this lodge complex sits at the base of Nkhoma Mountain amongst beautiful trees and shrubbery. It’s unique rondavel rooms and other guest rooms provide comfortable accommodation of single travelers as well as couples or families. The former Hospital Director started with a small teahouse in his backyard and soon this grew out to one of the most beautiful and quiet lodges in Nkhoma, a first choice of recurring visitors. All rooms include a private bathroom with toilet and shower. The complex boasts a nicely appointed common area and common kitchen, a library, games, pavilions and a large fire pit for fellowship with other travellers.

CCAP Synod Guesthouse

Located near the Hospital rear entrance, this historic mansion, belonging to Nkhoma Synod, has been turned into a rustic but nicely appointed guesthouse for Nkhoma visitors. Boasting single rooms as well as dormitory style lodging, shared bathrooms and a sprawling, tree-covered garden, the Synod Guesthouse gives you a quiet, old-world feel as you take in the scenery. It is a dormitory style guesthouse, also near hospital. About 3 minutes walk away. No backup power available, back up water available. $14/person/night, mostly shared rooms but can request to be alone in a smaller room, may be asked to pay double. Advantage is enjoyment of large groups of visiting students as well as evening meals for additional 1000 kwacha (about $1.40). Beautiful front porch and back garden. Also has camping facilities for tents, for additional visitors interested in hiking the mountain.

Hope’s Inn

Located near the Hospital rear entrance, this newly built (2017) modern lodge, belonging to the Peanut Butter & Jesus factory, boasts all updated amenities. The lodge has bunk bedrooms as well as single rooms with a queen-sized bed. Each room has a private bathroom (open room space), geyser and a fan. The inn also has back-up water and power provided. A community room and kitchen including a refrigerator and freezer are available for you to use for your meal needs and there is also a local chef available for hire during your stay.
